Update is once in a blue moon

I DO draw, I'm just realllllly lazy at updating

anyway, here's a little something something, and I'm trying to put up a youtube link of this music video I worked on... (how do you do that anyway??)

I'm still working on that little story based on my childhood in Indonesia... here's some more scribbles from it (Some of these are actually my portfolio pages, I'm just too lazy to make new ones)

Anyway, it's going to be set in an Indonesian Chinatown. Which if you;ve never been, is very noisy, dirty, and defenitely for you if you're claustrophobic. But here and there would still stand an old colonial house from the 19th century, set far-far back behind tall metal gates

These are the children that lives in Chinatown. They are usually not Chinese, and they're usually the poorest kind of children. Which doesn't mean that they never have fun.

And these are the main characters. They ARE Chinese, and from a rich family. So they're never allowed of their home to paly with the poor children in the street. So they become very imaginative and created their own play-world behind the walls

Indonesian childhood

I also thought about doing a series of stories based on me and my cousins growing up in Indonesia. That dome-headed little girl is me. My legs were skinnier though.
We lived in a little alleyway in front of the presidential palace. What inspired them to build the presidential palace right in front of some decrepit little alleyway is beyond me. During Bush's visit to Indonesia my family were put under week long curfew. We might be terrorists, it seems.

possible story?

so I was feeling sorta creative yesterday and thought of another little story...
it's all about a brother and sister who lived in a pokey little house... and then they went treasure-hunting... when they accidentally dug through to china!
and that's as far as I got...T_T

Geishas

So those who know me probably know by now how much i like drawing geishas^^;...
I find it really soothing to draw the intricate hair ornaments and the patterning of their kimonos! It's very thrapeutic!

Indonesian summer

various sketches I did when i was in Indonesia last fall. I didn't do much, because sketching while being surrounded by various aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, great-uncles, great-aunts, and a grandpa, who all exclaims "Ooooh! draw me! draw me!" as soon as you pick up your pencil, while being secretly disappointed that you chose to become an animator rather than marrying a dentist and have a mansion in the suburb, is pretty much impossible.

The second sketch, by the way, is based on this Indonesian novel that I haven't read in a long time, abut an illegitimate daughter of a batik merchant.
